About This Tour
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is Uganda's least-visited gorilla destination, and that is precisely its appeal. With only one habituated gorilla family — the Nyakagezi group, a large and well-habituated family of 21 individuals — and a much lower visitor ceiling than Bwindi, Mgahinga offers the most intimate gorilla trekking experience in Uganda. The park also holds Uganda's only golden monkey population — the brilliantly coloured endemic that most travellers associate with Rwanda's Volcanoes NP. Towering above it all are three Virunga volcanoes: Muhabura (4,127m), Gahinga (3,474m), and Sabyinyo (3,645m), whose summit forms the triple border of Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC. This 4-day itinerary is perfectly crafted for travellers with limited time who want a quality gorilla experience without the longer overland circuit.
