About This Tour

Kibale National Park holds the highest density of primates of any East African forest — 13 species, including the world's most accessible population of habituated wild chimpanzees. Tracking these fascinating creatures through the forest is a uniquely thrilling experience: chimps are far more active and vocal than gorillas, crashing through the canopy, hooting, and sometimes charging in playful displays. Kibale is also linked to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed conservation project where local guides lead you through papyrus swamps and tropical gardens rich in birds and red colobus monkeys. Nearby, the Fort Portal Crater Lakes region — a landscape of vivid turquoise explosion craters framed by tea plantation and equatorial forest — offers one of Uganda's most otherworldly and photogenic backdrops. This 6-day itinerary is ideal as a standalone trip or combined with a Bwindi gorilla safari for the ultimate primate double.
